The Sumitomo Foundation plans to make the following grants to contribute to the betterment of human society;

  1. Grant for Japan-related Research Projects by East or Southeast Asian researchers (except for Japanese nationality), to be applied in English or Japanese
  2. Grant for Projects for the Protection, Preservation & Restoration of Cultural Properties OUTSIDE Japan, to be applied in English or Japanese
  3. Grant for Projects for the Protection, Preservation & Restoration of Cultural Properties IN Japan, to be applied in Japanese only

  4. Grant for Exhibition Projects of Restored Cultural Properties, to be applied in Japanese only
  5. Grant for Environmental Research Projects, to be applied in English or Japanese
  6. Grant for Basic Science Research Projects, to be applied in English or Japanese
